The red-cockaded woodpecker was put on the endangered species list. Georgia Power, in partnership with other organizations, replanted 1.7 million acres of longleaf pine, and due to these efforts, helped welcome the red-cockaded woodpecker back to GA. With the help of this renewed habitat, it’s recently been removed from the endangered species list. We wanted to celebrate this great accomplishment by sharing this story with the generation to come as a reminder to protect our natural resources and look out for our neighbors (even the feathered ones).
